Stefanie Schneider
Stefanie Schneider (*1968, Cuxhaven) uses photography to grapple with pale American myths such as the American dream. The titles of her series come from movies, but the sceneries are located at remote places or deserts, mostly in the southwest of the USA. By implanting actors at those “non-places”, Schneider transforms them into seemingly artificial sites. Happenstance also plays an important role, as for her use of expired Polaroid material. Therefore, the choreographed photo stories stand before a double open end. Schneider lives and works in Berlin and Los Angeles.
