Cornelia Schleime
Cornelia Schleime (*1953, East-Berlin) is one of the most well-known contemporary painters. She studied at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts before the government’s censorship caused her emigration to West Germany. In 2016, Schleime was awarded the Hannah-Höch-Preis. Following a surrealist tradition, chance is a decisive factor especially in her paper works. Much different from her complex paintings, the paper compositions derive from little pools of watercolour, which spread and leave traces independently all over the sheet.
