Patricia Waller

Patricia Waller presents her motifs – be it organs in jars, monsters in cables or dead bunnies – in a way that the monstrosity of the subject is revealed only on second sight. Confronting the femininely connoted technique of knitting with the unsettling and thought-provoking topics of her artistic practice creates a dense tension which never omits a special kind of dark humor.

Patricia Waller (*1962, Santiago de Chile) moved to Germany at the age of six. She studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe followed by several residencies and scholarships such as the stipend Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris. Her work has been exhibited internationally in institutions including the Academy of Arts Berlin and Badischer Kunstverein Karlsruhe, as well as in galleries in Chicago, Paris, Vienna and Budapest.
