Martin Wühler

Martin Wühlers artistic practice reflects upon the paradox of artificiality as critique within conceptions of art, which is based upon 19th century philosophy. He often transforms objects of different contexts and cultures physically or digitally while moving about freely between sculpture, photography and new media.

Martin Wühler (*1983, Erfurt) studied East Asian and European art history as well as sinology in Heidelberg and Leipzig before he studied media arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Leipzig with Clemens von Wedemeyer. His first solo shows took place at Trufanowstrasse 8, Leipzig, and at Galerie Pretty Portal, Düsseldorf and at Galerie EIGEN + ART, Leipzig. Group shows included the Grassi Museum as well as the Gallery for Contemporary Art in Leipzig.
