In her big format paintings, Justine Otto shows adolescents, usually girls, in absurd or irritating situations. Otto involves the viewers in her fascinating and shocking visions and confronts them with basic topics of human existence such as fear, grief, and transience.
Justine Otto (*1974, Zabrze, Poland) studied at the Städelschule in Frankfurt/Main between 1996 and with Angermann and Krebber. Her works have been exhibited Portikus in Frankfurt, at the Secession Darmstadt and at Kunsthalle Darmstadt. Otto lives and works in Hamburg and Frankfurt.
