Jochen Schambeck
In Jochen Schambeck's work, painting becomes material, the visible becomes tactile. Corporal movement and the psychological as the physical feat lead to a "paint material battle”. Schambeck works to "get a grip" on his inner troubles with the help of the process of painting. His uncompromising, flooding, whirling, and eruptive works do open up feelings and spaces which yet had to be discovered.
Jochen Schambeck (*1964, Bremervoerde, Germany) studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe with Horst Antes. He finished his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart in 1990. His works have been presented at Badischer Kunstverein in Karlsruhe, at Haus der Kunst in Munich, and at Kunsthalle Darmstadt among other insitutions.
